What is the Main Difference Between Kshatriya, Rajput and Thakur
If you are a Rajput, Kshatriya or Thakur then you must read this.
1 Kshatriya
The word Kshatriya is much older than both Rajput and Thakur
. The mention of the word Kshatriya is found in the Vedas. Kshatriyas are a caste whose religion is to protect the country and the people, so anyone can become a Kshatriya.
2 Rajput
The word Rajput is derived from two different words – first Rajput and second Rajputra
Rajput means son of the earth and Rajputra means son of the king.
Origin of Rajput After the death of Harshvardhan, small dynasties arose in India which used to fight among themselves. One of these dynasties was Gurjar Pratihar dynasty which formed a union named Rajput whose rules of fighting and self-respect were made which were similar to Kshatriya. This union was very beneficial for the country. People were proud to join it. Its soldiers were given a lot of respect. All the kings present at that time gradually started following these rules but with time casteism took birth and this became a curse for India and the word Rajput came out which meant the son of a king and Kshatriya and it was said to be the same. Rajputs arose because of Gurjar Pratihar dynasty and this is the reason why Gurjars call Prithvi Raj Chauhan a Gurjar.
Rajput is a caste, it is a Kshatriya varna. Thakur is a title. The son of a king was called a Rajput, which is a caste today. Similarly, the people who used to live there also called themselves Rajputs. Kshatriya was a class group of the Hindu religion which protected the religion, Brahmins and the state. Thakur, this landowner was called Takkur in Turkish. Many people use it but the Brahmins used it first, now even Rajput barbers, barbers, Ghosi, Ahir, Maldhari use it.
3 Thakur
Thakur was a title which meant that a person who supports someone can be called Thakur.
Which has been used mostly by the Jagirdars, hence all the castes in which there were Jagirdars have started using the word Thakur.
Kshatriya: The second part of the Varna system, in which a youth born in Sanatan Dharma gets the privilege of protecting with physical strength. The one who protects cows, Brahmins, women and people is called Kshatriya. Earlier people could change Varna but with time Varnas became stable, so the lineage of Kshatriyas was called Kshatriyavansh, no matter what work they did to earn their livelihood. But mostly Kshatriyas used to do military work and agriculture work only.
Rajput : The descendants of Kshatriya dynasties were called Rajputra, which became corrupted to Rajput. Arab invaders had difficulty in pronouncing Kshatriya, so they addressed Kshatriyas with the word Rajput and Kshatriyas came to be known as Rajputs.
Thakur : It is a title of Kshatriya Rajputs. In Rajput dynasty, after the death of Maharaja, Maharajkumar (eldest prince) used to get the throne, and the other princes of the king were given the lease of some village’s jagir or estate and were honoured with titles like Thakur, Maharaj, Rao, Raja etc.
Conclusion: Kshatriya and Rajput both are synonymous with each other and Thakur is the title given to them.
